Jason Ephraim Flesh
Jason was born in Albany, New York. Upon graduation he moved to Maine and attended Colby College in Waterville, Maine. At Colby he achieved a BA in Psychology and a BA in Anthropology. Post Graduate Masters work was done at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, in San Diego, California. There he began a course of study to pursue a more specified approach of Japanese and Classical Chinese Medicine. Jason is National Certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). Jason moved to Portland, Maine to set up a practice and in January 2004 Downeast Acupuncture was opened. Jason has continued to treat patients for the last 20 years, serving the communities health care needs. He has continued to specify his proficiencies in Classical Chinese Medicine, Taoist I-Ching Acupuncture, and Nutritional Health.
Kara Ciampi
Kara came to Downeast Acupuncture in 2019, with 20 years of experience in nursing and practice management. She joined the practice as a full partner in 2022. Kara brings a variety of trainings in alternative healthcare. Studying as an Acupuncture Apprentice under Jason Flesh L.Ac. for the last five years, Kara treats patients, under supervision, on a cash sliding scale. Kara also treats patients with a fusion unique to her skillset including: Usui Reiki, Shamanic Reiki and Pattern Clearing, Yin Yoga, and localized body work. She possess a significant knowledge of holistic supplementation and herbology aiding patients in reaching their health goals. Patients can schedule with her individually or as follow up to traditional treatments with Jason.
